Installed Truxxx Kit - Now Have Strange Issue...

Hi Everyone,

I've finally installed my Truxxx leveling kit on my 05 Silverado. I love the look, but still need just an inch or so more of lift in the front to clear my 33s with no rubbing.

So, enter my strange issue. I've turned my torsion bolts to lift the truck up a bit further and at first look once the truck comes back down off of the lift, it appears to be taller, but then a few days later, the lift I've just added falls right back down to where it was before I turned the bolts.

Have any of you seen this before? I've turned the bolts probably 2-3 full turns and it seems to be doing something because when I let it down it's taller and the ride is stiffer, but the lift goes back down.

I'm so confused.

If anyone has seen this, could you please jot me a note and let me know if this is normal or if I may be doing something wrong?

Thanks so much everyone!

I have never heard of this problem and I have yet to encounter this problem on my 2001. I have had my keys maxed since 2005 and never had a problem of that sort.

Thanks very much for the reply. I'm totally confused as to why it keeps dropping. Do you know how much you had to turn the bolts to get an inch or two? Maybe I'm just not turning enough?

Try jumping on the bumper a few times after you adjust it. It may just settle down a bit after the suspension compresses and rebounds. It could be that it is not "settled" when you drop it off the lift and as soon as you get some suspension action it settles down to it's height.

+1. Adjust it, bounce it a bit, drive around the block, then come back and measure. :D

Thanks everyone. I'll work on it some more this weekend. I appreciate everyone's comments.

Good luck with it, just make sure you get an alignment any time you mess with the front suspension. :troll:

After you turn your t-bars, they do need to settle. Like mentioned above, take it for a spin, hit some bumps to flew the suspension, then measure. Might take more then 2-3 turns... Good luck!

Well, everyone was correct. I jacked it up, made a few more turns and it appears to be staying up a bit higher now. It didn't really affect ride quality either. Thanks for everyone's comments and help.

One last question however, is it normal for the bolt that I turn for this to be somewhat crooked? it's almost as if the whole key has moved towards the middle of the truck which is making the bolt look slanted or crooked instead of straight up and down.

Maybe it's me worrying about nothing, but I thought I would ask. Thanks again everyone.

    • Did you even read this article?   Even the title of the article says "U.S.-Iran Deal Doesn’t Mean a Swift Return of Oil and Gas Flows"   Remember, crude oil prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the oil companies.  Gas prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the station.  This article stated that many of the oil producing nations have to restart their processes to get the oil produced.  Then the oil has to be shipped to wherever.  And it doesn't get there overnight.  And most of that oil is not coming here. Check out this site:  https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10621   A graph will pop up to show where the US imports their oil from.  Notice that there isn't a lot of import from OPEC and Iraq.  Most of the US import comes from Canada. The US oil produces are selling their oil on the open market, which is why the US fuel costs went up.  So you're correct, the US oil companies are going to slow walk the price downward.

    • I just purchased a 2004 Tahoe with 148,******. I used to have a 2006 Suburban that had the push button Auto 4X, 2Hi, 4Hi and 4Lo. When checking out this truck I noticed it had push button but didn’t focus on it. After the purchase when driving home, this is when I noticed it was different and after a little research found out it has the AWD stabilitrak system. I don’t live in an area that requires AWD. I bought the truck to start a new adventure in life with off roading, now that the kids are all grown up. I purchased the truck knowing it didn’t have the G80 rearend but plan on re-gearing to drive on 33s or 35s and upgrade with a rear locker and still be able to tow when needed. Blah Blah Blah Anyway I know am thinking about converting the stabilitrak  to Z71. I know I will have to replace the transfer case. So now the information gathering stage is happening to see if it is worth it. Is the front AWD stabilitrak differential different when compared to a non-AWD front diff? Will I need a completely different front differential or can it be converted? What else should I be considering? I did see something in a video for GMT900 platform with removing the ABS fuse that disables the stabilitrak and turns the truck into a 2 wheel drive. Would that work in the GMT800 platform?
