A buddy of mine Mark just bought a 98 chevy 4X4 ext cab with a 4.3. Nice truck for his first one and he got a good deal. He just put a BFGs LT245/75/16 on his truck and they look good. Well I broke out the tape measure today they are almost as tall as the P265 on my truck. No wonder the 285s make such a difference. By the way I am recruiting him to join the forum.

Stepside Z-

Did your new Z come with P265's?  I'm confused why a half ton truck, with an off road package, would come from the manufacturer with "passenger car" tires as opposed to "light truck" tires?  Or are the BFG 285's you're considering going to be the 3rd set of tires for your new ride?  And yes, more, more members!

thats's right the BFG's LT245/75R16's look great on the 1500 CK. They also give the track and stability one needs on a light truck.

I know how you feel, wanting to do it once and do it right.  The 285's just give it such a beefy, solid look.  If you're not set on the BFG's, you may want to take a look at Pathfinder's from BFG.  Same tread pattern as the KO, but about ? less a tire with the same warranty.  You just don't get the BFG on the whitewall, but I turn the letters in, so I didn't care whose name was on them. If you're curious, take a look at them here-

The one thing with 285's, if you drive over a lot of gravel, my rocker panels are taking a pounding and a half!  They do clear the fender flares.  We only have one paved road in town, and I don't want mud flaps, so I may be looking at some rocker panels....
