It's not warped. It is varying thickness in the glass. Every windshield has it. Some are just worse than others.

Try this test. Next time you are in traffic start looking through the windshields of other cars from a side angle. You'll be AMAZED how rippled almost every one is. The effect is not obvious when you are looking straight through the glass. (except in rare cases) The problem is once you notice it on your own vehicle it is hard to ignore.

I would never let somebody remove the factory glass in my truck unless it was damaged. It's a structural part of the cab and replacements are never even close to being as strong.

It's your call of course.

Yeah, I can live with it. My father rode with me today and he said it made him sick. Its my truck's way of getting him back for eating in it.

What really sucks is after you notice it, it bothers the heck outta you.

Yeah, well I noticed it the first day I got it and then I just forgot about it until today. Its not that big of a deal.

varying thickness' in the 2 pieces of glass is what I was told. I have seen some distorted windshields before, but this drives me nuts...

I have distortion in my glass just below the AS1 line. I'm on my second windshield and it has exactly the same problem as the first just not quite as bad. My autoglass guy explained how this happens in the manufacturing process when laminating the two sheets of glass on the either side of the "film". It's basically the film that causes the optical problems and this is likely caused by poorly calibrated machinery. We are going to try to find aftermarket glass without distortion for my truck (probably PPG), it will cost me $300 to have this done since I have the rain sensor. I think he said about $190 for glass without the sensor.

I completely disagree with Zembonz comment about replacement glass being less safe. It's applied with the same adhesive that is used at the factory and should offer identical structure once cured (24 hours or less).

You just need to make sure they are careful and do not break the paint during the removal process, or the roof will start to rust from behind the windshield.

You can always tell when someone has had their windshield replaced (at least in my area) because the front of the roof is all rust blisters.
