07 Nbs Silverado Brake Problems With 22s

I have an 07 NBS silverado crew cab. I have put 22" rims on it and now the brakes shutter when I come to a stop. It does not do it just driving down the road. The rotors have been turned and still the same problem. It does not do it with the factory wheels. The clips were removed and the wheels were torqued in the right order. A local tire shop also put these on the truck and still has same problem. These wheels were on a 02 silverado before this truck and had no problems.

man, i had the same problem with 20s. had them turned 2 times now. still doing the same thing..put the oem 18's back on..and everything is fine. the srv mgr has not a clue as to the fix. anyone?

There is a clip on the rear drum that is used to hold the drum together only during assembly. Pull that off, and you should be good.

Have they been static balanced or road force balanced??? If you haven't tried a road force balance yet then that should be the next thing you do. Are the wheels hub centric???

Someone has told me to torque the lugs to 140? Anyone heard this? A local tire shop told me to put one of the 22s on one side and try it out and then swap it to the other to see if it would do it with just one 22 on there.

Hub size and offset is not correct for starters. Find a vendor for the wheel and check on some hubcentric rings. 07 up aftermarket wheels are not the same. Some may work, but often its how well the wheel fits on the hub itself. They should be cheap and I would do that first. On another note, assuming it is a cast wheel, the extra weight could be the issue.

yep, 140 is where i torque mine at. i also have an 04 ext z71 that these tires are now on.. and they are perfect on this truck. but when swapping to my nbs 07.. something is terribly wrong when applying brakes.

nope... did not install them since they came off my 04 and it does not have the tpms.

i can live with the idiot lights.

I just got my truck back from the local tire shop. I had them put the tpms sensors I got off ebay in. No more shuttering! I guess that is what fixed it.
