Outside Air Temp Sensor?

Hello guys,

We have a 2005 Envoy SLT with the auto dual temp controls. My outside air temp has been stuck on 77 degrees for at least a few days now. It's 93 here today and has been for weeks now, and that thing is stuck on 77.

The indication works fine for adjusting the cabin temp but when it reverts back to outside air temp...It's back to 77..... :chevy:

Where is the sensor and is there a reset that can be done?

About 1 month ago we got a new radiator installed at the dealer, could that have anything to do with it?

Thanks for the help...

I believe it is behind the front bumper under the grill support. I dont know about your Envoy but on my Suburban and my Silverado both had instructions in the owners manual about how to reset the compass/temperature display.

Alright thanks guys...

I looked in the owners manual and there's nothing about a reset. It just says that after the engine is off for 3 hrs it shows the last temp until it gets a new reading.....Ahhhh Yea. That would make sense......How could it not.....?

I'll take a look behind the grill to see if there is anything loose....If I can find the sensor that is.

If anyone else out there has info please help...It's driving me crazy now knowing it's not working.

Look under the right parking light (remove it - there's a tab on the inboard edge you push in) - You should see a "U" shaped metal clip attached to the wire harness that has the sensor clipped in it. The other spot to look is in on the front of the radiator. There is a square tube support that runs across up and then back down that holds the hood latch. On the left side of it there is a temp sensor for the OAT.

OK...I think I found it. When standing in front of the grill looking at the engine, it's to the right, behind the grill and next to the hood release. It looks like a small gray sugar cube with a electrical connector coming off it with 2 wires..... Does that sound about right?

That's it -

Thanks for the help. That was it. I found the connector not installed all the way. It pushed on with a good click now.

I guess when they did my radiator change they did not get it back on all the way.

It's working great now.
