you have a bad actuator motor not allowing a door to open mixing the cool air into the drivers side.

I also have a 2004 but my problem is a hot passenger side. Did the changing of the control motor fix the issue?

Sounds like a bad actuator, I had to replace my passengers side one before and now my drivers side is acting up. If I pull over and restart the truck, it blows cold again...someone before once told me to reset the a/c system by pulling the connections off the back of the ac panel in your dash for a couple min. and replugging back in, sometimes this is a quick simple fix...

Mine was doing the same today after I replaced my control panel (unrelated). The pass side was hot. I took off the panel under the heater box and was checking the exposed motor, seemed to be working fine. I unplugged it to see what the other side was doing and when I plugged it back in things were working fine on both sides...from what I gather on this post that won't last...?? I could only see one motor (drivers I think), where is the passenger one located? Also, on newer Mercedes (I used to be a MB tech), they have a process to "normalize" the system to recalibrate all the motors, anything like this with GM or just the unplug/plug in the panel?
