Rear Shock Pump For Electronic Ride Control

I have a question about the pump that runs the rear shocks on my Denali, does anyone know how this system works?

Every time i turn on the truck, the pump starts for about two minutes and then shuts off. It doesn't raise the truck, just pumps for about two minutes, then shuts off. I took my truck to the dealer, and they told me my rear shocks were bad. (there was a significant amount of oil on the shocks) They wanted $1250.00 to replace them, So, i bought new shocks from Advance Auto, ($575.00) and installed them. Pump still runs. Any clues?

I have never actually seem them lift up on the rear end to where it was noticable. They are very presice at leveling out the rear of the vehicle. I know that you can put about 25 lbs in the back and the pump will come on and stiff up the shocks. Just a little test we did with my uncles 07 Burb LTZ.

The pump runs for about two minutes everytime i start the truck. Before when i used to put the trailer on, the pump would come on and you could see the truck raise, very clearly. Kind of baffeled why the pump shuts off. The tech guy at Arnott Industries thinks the pump is bad and shuts off because it overheats, but, then would it come on every time i start the truck, even 5 times in succession?

Yea I could see it raising clearly with a trailer, I just thought you were talking about people and gear. As for the 5 times, it could cool down enough to run for a little bit and then shut off again, but that seems dumb to me. Is there a leak in the lines? I know alot of people here get rid of the autoride when the shocks go. They just put the stock smooth ride shocks on which have an autolevel feature. Our 03 Burb had them and when the trailer was on it would sag all the way down and a mile down the road it would be at the stock height.

Well, too late for that, i already put the new shocks on, i don't think the lines are leaking, but i can't tell. I got down under and took a look, don't seem to be damaged any where, but they snake around a bit, and also go into some kind of splitter. I wonder if you can actually check the pump, the connection is kind of unique to that pump, like a slip fit. The tech guy at Arnott Industries told me that the dealer could check the pump, but i already paid him $50.00 to tell me the shocks were bad, the pump is only $171.00, and i don't want to go back to the dealer to tell me the pump is bad so i can pay him another $50.00

Thanks for your time

Sorry man, you are like the 3rd guy this week with that problem. When those babies crapped out they crapped out good. Maybe you could splice into the line and put a gauge on there. That way you can see the pressure before it goes to the shocks what it does with it connected to the shocks, etc. Good luck and sorry about the troubles.
