Help Again With Mud Flaps / Splash Guards

Guys, I really need your help. A couple of folks, especially Jeff have tried to help me solve my problem but I'm at my wits end with finding the right mud flaps. I'll try and explain the problem as best I can. After putting the 305/65/17s on my 08 Sierra, my tires stick out about 2" past the fender wells. The problem with standard flaps is they don't come out past the fender well far enough to do any good. Most molded guards are too thick where they mount inside the fender well and don't give enough clearance for the larger tires. Now I know that "someone" other than me has had this problem and is clever enough to find something that works. If anyone has seen a solution to this problem, please give me a shout. I may make a copy of this and send it to every truck forum that I can find. I would appreciate any help that I can get.

I know this may not work but what about trying like Dually mudflaps that mount inside the fender well, usually those require drilling the mudflap so you can mount em to the factory holes, so with these you could offset the flap so it sticks out more to cover the tire width and protect like its suppose to, just a suggestions, not saying it could or couldn't work but never know.

Are you still considering flares? It may be your best/only choice.

Jeff, I may have to go that route but I really didn't want to spend that much cash. I'm looking at around $650 for the flares and having them painted to match. I wonder how my truck would look with the Bushwacker pocket style flairs?

Maybe it's just something that I'm going to have to live with for a while. I'm getting close on Justin's waiting list for my tune and I'm definately going to get that first

Again, any help would be appreciated.

You could get someone to make you brackets llike I did and use Semi mudflaps that are cut.. they are really cheap and heavy duty.

Justin, at your convenience, would you take a picture of your front mud flaps from the rear corner of your truck? [email protected]

pocket style flares are very easy to install, especially on your body style... ive put about a dozen or so on and they take about 2 min a flare.... they have all predrilled holes...

something like them TFP stainless trim rings would be nice if they stuck out like a 1" or so to give you a little bit more room and you could still put mudflaps on and save liek 400 bucks..

What do the rest of you guys think about installing the Bushwacker pocket style flares on my truck? Painted to match of course. Seems like I remember someone saying that they wouldn't look as good as you would think. Hey Riggs, do you have access to one of those trucks that you put the flares on? I'd love to know the exact measurements of the flares.

Thanks,

Personally, for a truck that didn't get wheeled, i'd skip the flares and go with 3M stonegard for chip protection, and just be stuck washing more often for general spray from the tires.

Does it go all the way down the side of the truck and where can I buy it?

Thanks

You can get it custom cut for whatever you want. You could cover the whole truck in it if you really wanted to. Not sure where to get it, ask around at local detailers and or performance shops, they might be able to point you in the direction of a local dealer.
