First Mod...

After having the truck a few months, I decided to get my first mod. I got the magnaflow catback for the 04 RCSB with the 5.3L.

I started Monday after work by disconnecting the exhaust... boy what a pain this was with the rusted threads and tight spot with the upper bolt. Just for poops and giggles I cranked up the truck with the exhaust unbolted and moved out of the way right behind the 2 into 1. Dang it was loud and vibrated the whole cab... I don't see how those turndown guys do it. I'm sure I pissed my neighbors off, but I only revved it up to 3K or so...

Then yesterday I worked on getting the exhaust out... this was even a bigger pain... being I was byself. I jacked up the passenger side right behind the cab and that gave me enough clearance to get snake out the stock exhaust without having to cut it.

Then I started from the catback putting the magnaflow pieces in... intermediate pipe, then the muffler and so on. I got everything on their hangers and halfway aligned, but absolutely "exhausted" myself doing this alone. It would be much easier to do if I had a lift and a helper, but I was so anxious I went for it alone.

The fit and finish is top notch on this system. I can't wait to button it up today after work and go for a cruise.

Next up is a Blackbear data logged tune... I think this truck is about to be woken up...

Is it just a single in single out system? I must admit I was a little nervous doing mine myself and don't ask how I jacked the truck up high enough to get enough clearance to get the old one out.

I was pissed though that mine resonated so badly. I had a single in dual out system and it was annoyingly resonating in the cab to the point I was going to put the stock one back one. I went down to the local muffler shop and a buddy of mine that works there said oh yeah your the 6th one in 2 months. So, we put a Flowmaster Resonator on it and it sorted it right out.

It is a little nerve racking doing it yourself isn't it?

Interesting... Mine is single in dual out... This is the first I've heard about them being noisy... I suppose I'll see how it turns out...

Yes... I was having a rough time yesterday getting the old one out... esp in the 90F+ heat and near 100% humidity.... I'm about to head home and try and finish it up.
