Transfer Case Problems

2004 Sierra 90,000 mi 5.3 Z71

 

Transfer case makes a noise when asked to drive. Rear drive shaft does not move but is engaged to the transfer case. Truck drives fine in Auto trac or 4wd.

 

 

Something has obviously given up in the tranfer case. Anybody got any ideas.

I replaced the encoder motor sensor and the problem was solved.

OK, where do i find this encoder motor sensor in 2007 truck?

 

may be we'll have to clean it every once in a while.
