"Changed transfer case fluid (dex III) on my just bought 96 1500 push-button 4X4 PU. Transfer case was empty, well had 4 ounces dribble out."

Drained / refilled T-case today to check for shavings. No shavings found!

But I did find what I think is the transfer case lube pump pick-up tube just inside the drain plug hole. It appears to go to the case bottom, so it would still pump and lube bearings even with only 4 Oz. in bottom of case.

T-case model 243C, ratio 272.

I feel better now!

Time to troubleshoot that soft brake pedal!

hahahah i bet.

Its a chevy thing to have a soft brake pedal but if its extremely extremely soft then you have a issue.

10-4

Bleeding brought the pedal up a little. The next 12 bleedings didn't make it any better.

A few panic stops (engaged anti-locks) in a gravel parking lot didn't change anything.

After reading as much as possible on chev brakes I think mine are as good as it gets.

thanks,

rick

Good to hear.

As for the soft brake pedal, Its normal. I have a 98' with 200K on the clock. It has a soft fell on the pedal, but still stop on a dime. Of course too soft of a pedal is a concern.

you can some times take it to a shop and have it "power bleeded" or something and they put this this pump on and suck all the air out...

i had it done to mine when i went through a brake line... its about 2x as stiff as before the break...
