Front End Vibration?

Recommended Posts

ok guys, so i have a 2005 GMC 2500HD, when i step on the brakes at highway speeds the truck vibrates and the steering wheel shakes. i assume it is the front rotors that are warped, but not sure. i can change rotors without a problem, but would like to have some conformation that this is indeed the rotors before i go and buy some $80/ a piece parts.

thanks guys.

Thats what is sounds like to me.

If you have a set of calipers or a small straight edge, you can verify the plane or thickness. If it is not bad you could have them turned or if you perfer, new ones.

*hell you could probably feel any defects in the rotor, if you do not have the above tools.*

My '05 just needed the rotors trued also. Mine actually got to the point of clanking at slow speeds (pads against rotors). I could not beleive how warped they were for a 2500. These rotors are huge and I really don't have more than 30,000 miles on my truck and NEVER towed heavy. I am a little displeased with GM on this considering the circumstances. Anyway, it definitely helped because i thought my 285's on stock alloys were to blame for the slight shimmy.
