I purchased a 2008 LTZ that has a heavy duty towing package,but not the factory brake controller. Can I install the factory unit now or am I stuck with an after market unit..

Good question...On mine I have an extra plug thingie behind my bumper. It was tucked in by the spare tire and I noticed it the other day. How difficult is it to add a trailer brake controller. and it that what the wiring is for??

the truck as a plug under neath by where you put yoru feet... am im guessing that a factory unit plugs in right there..

 

so it should take all of 5 min to put in..

 

pop the trip off put the new unit in and plug it in..

Nope, not that easy. I'm not going to find it myself, but there's a thread right here on THIS VERY SITE () where everyone was gong through the research to see if this could be added easily on GMT-900. short answer is no. Search will find the article with the details though.
