Code 43 electronic spark control failer

91 Chevy 350 throttle body injection makes like a spark knock, pinging noise all of the sudden then the engine light comes on then seems fine. What do you guys think would be the problem?

I still have the Haynes manual for my '91 that I used to have.  Like you said, it says that code 43 is the Electronic Spark Control Unit.  It also says that the probably cause is a Faulty Knock Sensor or ESC Module.

 

The Chiltons manual I have says this:

- For fuel injected engine trouble codes through '95, except with 4L60E and 4L80E tranny.

-- Code 43 - Electronic Spark Control (ESC) Circuit---Signal to the ECM/PCM has remained lox for too long or the system has failed a functional check.

 

AND

 

- For fuel injected engine trouble codes through '95 with4L60E tranny.

-- DTC 43 - Knock Sensor (KS) Circuit---Signal to PCM has remained low for too long, or the system has failed a functional check.
