Transmission Help!

I have a 93 Yukon that had a transmission rebuild no more than 30000 miles ago. When in D, it feels likes its starting in 2nd gear. It will shift to 3rd properly and into 4th (overdrive) as well. When I put it in manual 1st it will not move. It has no reverse also. I want to undertake a transmission rebuild on my own, I have rebuilt various engines before so I think I can do this.

I bought the ATSG manual and am going to order some videos just to make sure I dont get it wrong. I have been doing some extensive online research as well so I think I can handle this pretty easily.

Can anyone tell me if I really need all the tools that are in this manual (I can build some myself, I think)? What possible diagnosis can anyone give me? When purchasing parts where would it be cheaper to get them from?

I have a feeling that there is probly just a stuck spool in the valve body... but i`m no tranny expert, cause i`m pretty sure the 2nd gear stuff uses some of the same components to run reverse also?

Well Im off to work on that tranny removal....I'll try to take some pics when I start actually taking it apart...I'll take a look at the valve body closely. Any more help will be appreciated....

If you rebuild the transmission be sure to get a HD sun shell assembly, its the weak part of a 700R4/4L60E. I have a beefed up 700R4 in my 90 SS 454 with a 572 ci for 7 years without failure.
