A Slightly Different Exhaust Thread

So, I want to change the exhaust on my '07 Sierra Vmax. I know that I want dual rear exit, no catback system, and want to achieve the dual rear exit by splitting the single pipe currently on the truck.

 

My question is how to achieve the best sound with the fewest changes. Definately going to change the muffler, but what effect would removing the resonator have? I want to make the truck audible when it's cranked, but avoid the highway drone if at all possible.

A Single-In/Dual-Out muffler is what it sounds like you're looking for. That should provide some threads to start you down the right path.

i've been looking too, magnaflow offer two #'s both are cat back one single in/out the other single in/dual out they reccomend single kit to keep torque up , but they also claim the spare tire can remain under the box with the dual out . Kit #'s single stainless #16740, dual stainless 16741 . As well gm's kit comes with a compressor and a can of instant flat repair so you can leave your spare tire somewhere else ?
