'04 Fuel Filter Install - May Have Screwed Up...

Recommended Posts

I just got done replacing the fuel filter on my '04 w/ the flex fuel (had to buy the special disconnect tool to get the old filter off). Anyways, the filter I took off did not have the little plastic clip on the metal nipple. Without even thinking about it I installed the new filter from Advance Auto (for the Z) that did have the plastic nipple on it. The filter appears to seat fine in the line, but should I have removed that plastic clip first? I guess essentially there could be 2 plastic clips inside my line now. I feel like an idiot for swapping them so fast now...guess I should have paid a little more attention. It seems to run fine and I don't see any leakage, but I want to be sure. BTW, the filter that I took off was the original and there was no visible plastic clip.

I believe it's under enough pressure when running that it would leak if you had it on wrong. I'd keep an eye on it amd make sure it doesn't leak... and keep on truckin'

OH YEAH.

Welcome to the site Brandon.

Thanks...I guess I joined here well over a year ago when I was in the market for a Tahoe and stumbled back upon it tonight. Thanks for the welcome..looks like a great place here! Also, I drove the truck around for 15 minutes and there appears to be no leakage from the filter, so hopefully the clip issue will not be a problem.
