Can I Install Oem Nav On A Non-bose Equipped Truck

I am new to the site and want to add a OEM Nav unit to my 08 Non-Bose Sierra but I am not certain if it can be done or not. I have already purchased the GM Nav Unit, GM Part # 15940102, the Bose Amp and the Rear DVD Receiver. I am not certain I really need the Rear DVD but it came as a package. I have been reading forum after forum and I am not really certain if it is possible or not. I read one forum where they installed the Nav Unit and Nav Antenna in a Non-Bose but did not mention anything about the Amp or VSS Wire.

I guess I am looking for some clarification. Can it be installed? Do I need the Amp and VSS Wire? What are the other two plug ins in the back of the nav unit? How do I install the AMP and what is needed?

Also I see in many forums people where getting items from JPCustoms but it seems they are out of business, where do I get the items I need? I would really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

Come On, there has to be someone out there who can assist me!

I would use a PAC AOEM-GM1416 and an aftermarket 4 channel amp.

Thanks for the information. Is the PAC AOEM-GM1416 used to install the Amp and why do you recomment using an aftermarket amp?

The AOEM-GM1416 plugs into you harness and provides regular RCA low level jacks for an amp. I have never seen one but would be surprised if the BOSE amp has RCA Phono Plugs.

Again thanks for the information. Also the bose amp does not have RCA Plugs. There are 3 plugs for wire harnesses.

Hey there, I am trying to do the same thing. My Non-Bose truck also doesn't have onstar or XM tuner.

I have the Nav unit, I wired to the VSS wire (it's located on the back side of a panel under left side of drivers under dash). I insalled the rear cam too.

I need the BOSE amp apparently (do you have the part number?). But I will need the wiring harness also.

I have found that the volume is monologue, can not be adjusted up or down. It can be muted from the steering wheel controls though.

The chimes/warning sounds don't work (i.e. turn signals, lights left on, etc.)

I am also going to install a USA Spec ipod adapter to allow the integration of my IPOD.

P.S. the nav works, but it always seems to be about 600 or 700 feet off. I.E. My house shows up as a different address on Unit, even though I am sittting in my driveway. The GPS is working though, the internal gyro works, so not sure what the problem is.

How are you coming?
