02silveradols Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I have been noticing that most of you guys seem to be buying the NBS crew cabs over the extended cab trucks. I know alot of you have families so its easier for the kids. But in the looks department, I think the extended cabs look much better. Again this is just one mans outlook. I need my 6 ft bed. What do you guys think?
gvbhunt Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 The bed is only a few inches shorter in the crew cabs, plus just wait until you are dragging somebody around that does not know that the front door has to close AFTER the back door closes. At that point you will wish you had a crew cab...
97SierraGMC Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 ^^^^ sometimes people cant figure out what door to close when..

What do you guys think? I think you are going to find it probably about 50:50 in the responses. For me personally, I think the GMT900 trucks look better as a crew cab then a extended cab. I like the looks of the extended and regular cabs, but not as much as the crew. Some of the past years this wasn't true. It is also a functionality thing. The crew is much more usable for me. I HATE the suicide doors. This is the one and only area that the Toys beat GM. Just one more mans opinion
cfeiring Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I bought the crew cab truck listed below because I and or my daughters 16 yrs old could not sit in the back seats with the front seats adjusted for me and my wife, to sit comfortly in an extened rear seats of the extended cab but could sit comfortable in the rear seats of the crew cab with the front seats adjusted to my and wifes comfort postion. So it was a no brainer for me to get the crew cab when it was time to buy a truck. I wanted to have an 8 ft bed so to get the crew and 8 ft bet the only choice was a 2500 hd. Once that was determined, I was not going to get the gas engine with its poor fuel mileage and inablity to pull so it was easy get the duramax truck. I am a happy camper except for the cost of what I paid vs what I could pay today for same truck.
Darkanion Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 My main reason : I need to haul people in the back seat more often than I need to haul stuff in the bed. I also like the easy access of people able to open the back door without "having" to open the front door. The 6.2 w/ the 6 spd didn't come in an extended cab, either.
arctictwist Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 For me, it was looks and functionality. I got on alot of ski trips and we try to use as few vehicles as possible and i go mountain biking alot. when i go biking its nice to have the bikes in the bed and the gear in the back seat. I also could not imagine how upset i would get if someone messed up on the extended cabs doors....
sstenberg Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 My main reason : I need to haul people in the back seat more often than I need to haul stuff in the bed. +1 Also, I like the looks of the crew cab over the extended cab.
matt3 Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 It is uncomfortable for my wife to sit up front with my son who is 3 sitting behind her in our NBS ext. cab. The way the car seat makes his legs stick out makes the passenger seat have to sit pretty far forward. Whenever we stop putting him in the car seat he will have a ton of room. If you have a 5 yr old get the extended, if you have a baby or a teen and it will be a every day family vehicle get the crew. For as little as we drive as a family in my truck vs. her 4 banger accord it is not a big deal but, if my truck was the normal family vehicle I would have gotten a crew cab and it has nothing to do with bed size since I have a ext. cab/short bed. Personally I like the NBS in a crew cab but, it just was not in the budget at the time and it was not really necessary so I got the ext.
huero626 Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I bought an extended cab because IMO I think they look way better than Crew Cabs, also I use the bed to haul stuff around. If I really needed to transport people around I would just get a Tahoe or Suburban.
HawkeyeOC Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 The Crew Cab choice for me was dictated by family needs. A couple of inches of lost bedspace is a welcome trade off for 4 full doors. Now before I had kids...I loved the extended cabs more
TexasAl Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I chose the CC because it provides so much more room in the interior. Like other have said, I haul people more often than gear, and if I need more space in the bed, I simply leave the tailgate open. If I was still single, I would have gone for the extended cab, especially because of the cheaper price, but in my current situation, I am extremely glad I went with the CC. -Al

VMax2007 Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I'm a rc kind of guy, don't give anybody a ride. You take up the WHOLE front seat? You may want to consider a diet and some exercise jeff. Didn't we just have a very similar thread like this within the past couple of days?
