Radio Interference

I found that I got quite a bit of interference (electrical whine/noise) when using my Sirius receiver plugged directly into my aux. output on my 2008 Silverado. Anyone else have a problem with electrical interference with radio equip.?

My Raytel bluetooth kit wired thru a Lockpick GMX320 has alternator whine on my 08 but I don't have any when I use my iPhone hooked to the aux input. I'm told the noise on my bluetooth kit is due to the need for an LOC adapter to step down the high level signal from the bluetooth to low level that the lockpick is expecting...I haven't done this since I plan to get rid of this kit and lockpick when change to the Alpine 505 HU.

If you sound is a whine that changes with RPM then it alternator noise (ground loop - very common on many makes). If you have a ticking noise that does not correlate to RPM then it's ignition noise (common on Ford's). Some things you can try: Try a different AUX cable as yours might not be shielded properly also try to turn down the output level on the sirius tuner if it has a level control. If that doesn't help you could try a noise suppressor on the power wire to the Sirius (this would be ugly and you would probably want to hardwire this just to hide the choke that is part of the noise suppression kit)...but it's an easy solution that works 80+% of the time. Some other stuff that can be a PITA to try but could eliminate the need for a new cable or a noise "choke" would be to pull the HU and try grounding the Sirius power to the radio itself or the point where the radio connects to ground.

That would be the best solution, noise suppressors are just a band-aid.

The whine is so bad when I'm listening to AM that I think it was an RPO from the factory.

T4B = Tachometer for the blind option

But... the blind can't drive.

LOL; I got a call from the dealer, as I'd mentioned this a few days ago when I was there. It seems my problem isn't my truck, but all the accessories I've been using with it. Dammit, why do I keep buying those broken accessories to use in my perfectly-grounded-and-shielded-from-the-factory-truck?
