Clunking Sound?

Hi all, I'm new to this site and I've got a question. I have a new body 08 1500 4x4 ext cab GMC. My 3rd 1500. I've got 6000 miles on this truck and have had it in for service 2 times. When I take off from a start I hear and feel a clunking sound from the rear of the truck. Both times that I took it in they said the lubed the prop shaft and the splines and yoke. This doesn't sound right to me. Then to find out that GM knows about this and is telling the service techs to use a certain lube to bandaid the prob.

Has anyone heard of this and does it sound normal??

On my 2006 GMC 1500 Crew 4x4, I had a clicking sound in mine, took it in and they replaced the driveshaft, yokes, and u-joint. Then after that I starting to get a clunking sound, but only when I change from: park to drive/reverse, from drive to reverse, or reverse to drive. I don't get it from a dead-stop while I'm in drive.

 

They told me the reason for my clunking was the gears, and that it was normal. My dealership showed me the same thing happens on their parts-truck.

 

Not sure if this is the same for the NNBS or not, I would hope that these probs would have been fixed in the newest trucks. Good luck

I don't notice it when I change gears. Just from the start and even under hard braking. It's almost like I'm pulling a trailer whith surge brakes and after the take off the trailer slides back. I just hope it doesn't cause a big prob for the drive train.

my moms 07 tahoe started doing this, but the day she was going to bring it in it stopped. but its back again..
