First Mountain Trip Twoing The Brick

We just got back from a mountain trip to North Carolina and north Georgia, and I am very pleased with the truck, Got 10.7 Miles per Gallon, and only had 2 mountains where I had to downshift to 1st for a little, even then, I was passing 18 wheelers on the way up.

 

Went to Stone Mountain, Ga, Helen Ga, and Cherokee ,NC.

 

And if any of you guys like trains or model train sets, you GOT to visit Bryson City, NC and see the museum there. They have one of the best collections of model trains I have ever seen, and one wild model train city where there are 5 levels of trains running all at once......

Nice pics, sounds like a great trip. What is the size and weight of your trailer? I have a similar set up in my Silverado and hope to get a trailer for hunting and camping in the next year or so.

Dry weight of the trailer is 5700, but I was probably at 6500 loaded.....I will have to say the Firestone airbags make a world of difference towing a tag along.....I was running 30 psi in them....

Been there years ago and agree it is well worth the stop. Always wanted the time and money to build a model train set.

I see everyone likes there outbacks, do they make a floorplan that does not offer bunks? We are starting to look into up grading, although I have been told that the skyline is one of the better build quality TT, I dont think a new one is in the budget. I see a lot of outbacks, we have been looking at cirrus, and puma's, along with the trail lights. Something in the 24-28' range with a sofa/dinning slide and a walk around bed, I would like to get the smooth side fiberglass walls too. And not one of those that is 12 foot tall, neither of us are over 5'8" so we dont need the huge ones that make the truck look like a mico machine next to the height of the trailer! just thought I would ask, we are thinking 1 more summer before moving to a newer bigger TT.

The answer to your first question is yes. In fact there have been complaints that they have gotten rid of all the models that do have bunks. You're doing a wise thing checking different manufacturers and models. That way you can get exactly what you want. Of course I'm a little biased. Check out www.keystonerv.com for floorplans. www.outbackers.com for lots of info and advice. And for prices check www.holmanrv.com. You have to email them to get the lowest price but there's no pressure or sales call.

its not bad, not crazy about the chairs. I cant wait for the next RV show, thats where all the research happens because you can get away from the never ending sales pitch. We tried to go to a local rv dealer (general rv) they are worse then a used car lot, they want to sell you everything, I told the jerk that i was just looking to get ideas and that if he kept bothering us there would be no sale! He still kept on us like a fly on crap! after leaving his office with some booklets I told him that I will be finding a new dealer to buy from.

I know what you mean about salesmen. I won't buy from one like that. I see you're in Michigan. Have you tried lakeshore RV? They have some of the best prices in the country. If you check them out talk to Marci.
