08 Sierra Denali 2-way Advanced Remote Help?

Hello,

 

Im new to the forum, but have been coming here for a long time to read forums. Anyways I have a 08 sierra denali (awd,6.2L,power rear sliding window,) i have read somewhere that people have been installing part 19171129 advanced remote on them even though it states cant have power slider. I ordered the remote kit and it should be at the dealer on monday but they say it does not match my vin, and that they dont think it will work. I just bought my wife a 08 acadia and had the advanced remote put on that, works great, want to use the 1 remote for both cars. i have read all the forums about this but still a little worried my dealer might fry my truck. any imput appreciated thanks. oh and i have ap3 already.

Welcome to the forum Brian The remote will work fine with your truck, no worries. I believe the reason they say it won't work with the sliding rear window is because it compromises the mounting location of the antenna. However, many of us with the sliding rear window and have done it and there's no issue.

I have read posts from people that have had it installed and have the sliding rear window. The antenna just has to be installed somewhere else than the rear window.

I have one on my 08 Sierra SLT with Sliding Rear Window.

Works great.

 

I did tell my dealer that I was aware it would limit the range by having to mount it to one side as opposed to the center. (The sliding rear window wiring makes it impossible to mount it in the center of the rear of the cab) Once he noted that, he installed it without a problem.

 

I guess it's possible a Denali might be different in some respect, but I can't imagine how ?

I have an aftermarket extension kit. The antena mounts on the windshield. The range was greatly improved, althout that's not saying much......
