Polaris Or Arctic Cat?

Well since i decided to pass on that green truck. I am in the market for a new sled. My last snowmobile was a 03 polaris supersport 550.

Now i cant decide between a Polaris Edge-X 600 or 700 and a Arctic Cat Firecat F6 or F7? I have been loyal to polaris for the past 10 years but i really like the look of the Firecats and since they have no trailing arms.

Any help greatly appreciated!

I don`t know much about the ACs but i had an 03 edge 700 and it was a great sled, put over 2000miles on her without fault, had a few bolt ons and it was near 130-140hp, the edge chassis was very nice....

Outta those two i would get the firecat (as long as not a 03 F7 though the fastest)

Edge chassis is dated, not that the firecat isnt, but not so much.

Firecat will also be quicker/faster and handle rough stuff better.

I can only offer opinion based upon limited observation as my last sled was a 72 Panther 292. My brother buys a new Polaris every two years and he pampers it like a child. Each one (about 5 or 6) he has owned has had major component failures within a few months of purchase. Cylinders grenading, clutch and drives puking, injection failures, etc. He is an old man who does not punish equipment. I'll bet my old 72 Panther is still making a kid happy somewhere in Vermont. My money would be on the Cat.

If you can find an 06 they were IMO the best Firecats. Last season I put on 800 miles on a 08 F1000 and that was head and shoulders better than my 06. More power once it was set up, great ride and good handeling.

I don't know shit about snow cruisers.

But I use to have a 2006 model Polaris jet ski and it was the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned. Almost as bad as my John Deere lawn tractor that sits at the shop. Every time I used it it went back into the shop for something else. Took forever to get parts. When the warranty ran out and it had a ton of hours (20 to be exact) I sold it to some poor soul in Destin.

Thats their jet skis atleast. For all I know they build the best snow cruisers in the world.

Thanks man, living where I do sledding is almost a way of life. Not much wrong with the 04 and 05 firecats......it's just that by 06 AC had those sleds really dialed in. I also had an 04 for a short while and really liked it too.

Also have you looked over here hardcoresledder.com

We have 60 or so folks in our riding group, with 50 AC's, 4 Polaris, and 6 Ski Do's. Most are switching to Ski Do's for their new sleds this year (if the auto industry does not grenade). My 600 XCR has been kind to me, but others have had problems with their Polaris's (chain case leaks, reed valves, etc.).
