Tach Installation

Hello,

I own a 1994 Chevy S-10 4 Cyl. The Truck has the standard Dash with Gauges but no Tach. Does anyone know where I could find the Tach Signal Lead. Is it best to splice it off the Ignition Box (no Distributor in this one)

or can I find a unused wire/connector behind the dash board?? What color is it. (On older cars it used to be brown). TIA for any help here.

on my truck there is a white wire in a corner of the harness conector to the cluster. note the colors on the coil. pull the cluster and look for these colors, now, does that color have a lead on the printed circuit ? if "NOT" thats probably the tach lead.

oops, i just reread your post, no distributor. maybe this info will help you anyway, good luck

Thank you for your reply. In the meantime I was able to look into a Shop Manual for Full Size Chevys. There of course the smallest engine is the 4.3, still with a distributor. You're right. The Tach Lead on that setup is white and goes from the coil into the cluster connector.

I guess I will know it in a few days, when I have some time to remove the cluster from my Truck.

Thanks again.
