I Need Help

I have a 2000 chevy silverado 2wd with the 5.3 vortec engine. I have been having a strange problem with it and now i'm at the point where i', puzzled as to what it can be. The truck used to run except for when i would give it half to full throttle and it would have no power and almost seem as if it was back-firing into the intake? Now The truck will start and run for only 1 to 2 seconds fine and then stall. I can not get it to run any longer than this, i have replaced both the fuel pump and crank position sensor, and neither have led to any solutions. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

I had a somewhat similar issues on my 97 Tahoe and it turned out to be a bad distributor.

I had the exact same problem with my S-10, it turned out to be the catalytic converter.

But he might to get to AutoZone...

 

 

he can get a semi with a flat bed and a crane truck...lift the truck with the crane put it on the flat bed...go to autozone on the semi and the truck on the flatbed and the crane and unload it right in front of any autozone...it will be like......$2000...or so...

the problem with the cat is that after 100K miles or so, the material inside it starts to fall apart and that can cause a clog on the exhaust system, dont letting the engine breed...

 

but I'm no an expert..a few things I would check..have you replaced the spark plugs since u have the truck? specially if it has over a 100K miles..cause it could be a spark failure..or replace the fuel filter?.. it could be a fuel or electrical problem..

I would add the pre-Cat O2 sensors. These, along with your mass airflow sensor regulate air/fuel mixture. If one goes, it can through off the system. If you are over 100K, I would replace them as preventive anyways.
