Truck was running fine one day then the next its running like crap. I was told this is the place to come for help :thumbs:

 

I got an 88 GMC Sierra with the 5.0l V8 (TBI) its having problems idling when cold and sometimes will stall out when acceleration from a stop. I replaced the Idle sensor from my spare TBI and that didn't help (both could be bad) the question im asking is the backfiring and rough idle do to this sensor? I don't really want to spend 75 dollars on a part I don't need and can't return. I used injector cleaner and gas deicer/water remover and both didn't do a thing. I was thinking bad wire but when its warm it runs fine.

Try your ground strap. My '91 started running like shit one day, hesitating, idling rough, etc. and I spent weeks and $$$ trying to find the issue. Turns out $6 and 10 minutes made all the difference. That truck is certainly old enough to need a new ground strap anyway. It's worth a shot and it's cheap.

LOL its an old construction truck, hell its so stock it even had the AM only radio in it...that had to go.
