Towing Questions

Guys ive miss placed my manual, What is the max towing capabilities for my truck. The configuration is Reg Cab short bed, z85 5.3 with the 4l60e z71 4x4.

 

Also when should i take it out of overdrive when towing. "this is my fist auto" Oh yea its a 2008

Give me a minute,But first of all a couple questions....What rear-end gear ratio you have?

And secondly....You said its a Z85 and Z71...Its going to be one or the other,not both.

So is it a Z71 or a Z85?

I have my book in front of me, but like like MSDale asked, I need the rear end ratio. The other way to find it is to go to here and download the tow ratings from Trailer Life magazine. There you can check the rating using the cab size, engine and rear end ratio. Or reply with the rear end ratio and I will double check for you. Regarding overdrive, I always press the Tow button when there is trailer hitched on, and I tow in 3rd gear.

my bad, It has the 3:73s, i thaught z85 was the tow package

7900 lbs with 3.73's.

8900 lbs with 4.10's.

Z82 is the towing package.

7500 lbs if its 4wd,7700 lbs if its 2wd.

Having the extended cab takes a few hundred pounds off the towing limit, same with having the transfer case: another 200 pounds less.

i see you tow a 21 foot travle trailer. we are looking to get something similar. does your Sierra tow it with no problems? What the weight of your trailer? Did you do any upgrades to your truck to pull it?
