More on step bars...

I think a few people have asked how they mount to the trucks.  I'm sure they are all different in some way, but here's how the Westin Chrome Plated Stainless Steels bars mount on a '99 Extended Cab.  (I had it up on jack stands, rotating tires, so I thought I'd take a couple pics.)

 

Front mounting bracket.  Looking at the front cab mount, from the rear of the truck, towards the front.  The drivers side is similar.

 

Rear mounting bracket.  Looking at the passengers side rear cab mount, almost straight up.  The drivers side is similar.

 

 

It took me around an hour to install these by my self.

i wish gm would offer step bars on their trucks, and that ford would make theirs useful, not annoying.

There is a GM step bar available for the Avalanche.  It just costs twice as much as the Westins and doesn't look as good.
