Can you give any help to what the problem might be ,since you are a GM TECH,can the 02 sensors cause this problem? Thanks!

Not a tech, but those codes usually point to mass air sensor going. Unless you have a crack in your air intake somewhere after the sensor.

When GM issues a Technical Service Bulletin, that TSB is to be a PRIORITY in order to fix a vehicle right the FIRST time.

 

You are getting p0171,p0174 Trouble Codes on a 99 Sierra.

 

So, when I look up this problem, related to your 99 Sierra, this Document is the first on the screen.

 

SO, with that said, you DO NOT go pissing your money away on new oxygen sensors, just when the codes WILL RETURN because the original problem is not repaired.

 

The other problem is this: you go around asking 5 or 6 different opinions on these codes. Which I understand, you are coming from Mopar Land, and I'm sure you have tons of questions.

 

But, on this web board, you have tons of info, a search feature, and actual GM Techs AND GM Parts-Guys that are just a click away. We work on these trucks and fix them 5 days out of the week. We're not gonna leave you hanging...

 

SO, with that said, do this:

 

If you are mechanically competent, tomorrow throw some intake gaskets on your truck, clear the codes, and be done with it.

 

If you have your vehicles worked on at a shop, have them throw on some intake gaskets.

 

Or, have your local GM franchise do the repair. All they need is GM Document 1899786, also known as "PIP 3232-b" that had a release date of 2.7.07

 

One other item...living in Florida doesn't mean squat with these codes. You can live on the Equator...and it would still act up...

Will replace gaskets this weekend ,with proper gaskets from GM, If I still have problem will let you know
