New Guys With Some Questions

Hey whats up guys im Nate and i live in Mesa AZ and im driving a 2004 Chevy Silverado LS 2wd 1500. ok now to the questions so i want to lower my truck a little bit but i cant find anything to do it because my truck has the torsion style front suspension. i want something that will be good but that wont break the bank. any help you guys might have would be great. and i noticed that a majority of you guys lifted your trucks so please dont shun me haha.

yea i was thinking about doing that but i dont know how much of a drop i will get out of that. anyone know?

I don't know how much either. Like you said...Most of the torsion bar topics you'll find on here are about raising, not lowering.

 

I'd imagine that if you dropped it more than 3/4" to 1", you'd be needing shorter shocks at the very least.

 

It probably wouldn't take much to try, and probably wouldn't hurt anything if done temporarily to test the waters. Park your truck on level ground and measure the ground to fender height...Then grab a 18mm socket and a ratchet, climb under there, and turn each screw one full turn counterclockwise. Go drive it around the block, park it in the same spot and measure again.

EDIT: And to add to what Mike said, make sure you jack up the front end of the truck to take the load off of the torsion bars when you are adjusting them. This isn't as important when de-cranking, but is vital if you crank them back up. If you don't, you risk stripping the threads off of the adjustment bolts.

it is defiantly 2wd and defiantly has the torsion bars on the front. it is an extended cab and im not sure if this helps but it came with the factory 20" wheels and someone said that it may be a 1500hd?? ive never even heard of that before

I know that they made 1500 HD's (usually crew cabs if I recall), but I'm not sure of the years.
