Check Engine Light

I have a 1999 c-2500(8600 gvwr) with a 5.7 and 4l80e. After hosing some salt off of it a couple days ago my service engine soon light came on. I took it over to autozone and got the codes pulled, but not cleared. it came back with code p00174 no.1 bank running lean. Today I washed the truck real good since it got a little warmer (close to 40). After washing it i drove it and the engine light stayed off the whole time, about 6 miles. On chevy's when the service engine light comes on does it usually go off after a couple days and then come back on or just stay on? right now im thinking i got a little water on a sensor, it froze and may have confused the sensor for a while, or one of my 02 sensors just happens to be going out? anyone have any other ideas?

Once a DTC is triggered, they usually stay on for a bit before clearing. MY guess is the same as yours, a small hick-up in the o2 sensor. Keep an eye on it, if it keep up then the troubleshooting begins.

There are a few different buckets that the code could be in, such as "fault active" or "history" and so on. In order for the light to have been on it clearly failed that particular diagnostic on at least one occassion and would have been in both FA and H. If however on a certain number of subsequent key cycles or "trips" that diagnostic test either passed or did not fail then the light would go out but the code would be retained withing history. Only clearing the code(s) will remove it from history.
