Gigante Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Looking for a cheap easy way to connect my iPod to my OEM (06 Sierra CD only, no XM or changer). Is there an RCA jack on the back of the unit? Controlling the iPod with the stereo and charging don't concern me, so can I just hook up and RCA to 3.5mm? Please advise. Thanks in advance.
DofD Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Hi there and welcome to GM Trucks! There's no real easy way like plugging in a couple of RCA jacks. There are adapters that will take the place of your CD player and allow you to install an iPod adapter. Peripheral Electronics
Gigante Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 Thanks for the welcome and the info. I should've heeded the advice of my friend (who's a former GM sales manager, now sells lux) who said to wait for the new body styles in 07 cause there'd be lots of improvements. I chose to go with the discounted 06
Gigante Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 What about FM Modulators? I did some other research and asked a few "experts". I was told that the Modulators you can install yourself for $20-$30 are crystal clear when compared to the wireless transmitters.
DofD Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 The fm modulators that connect directly to the antenna line do work okay. The ones that transmit wirelessly suck.
stadt11 Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I got this for my '06, works great! Precision Interface Electronics GM12-AUXv2
Gigante Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 Thanks. I think I'm going to go that route. I like the controls better on my touch better than running them throught the stereo anyway. Are they fairly easy to self install? Best Buy said they wanted $50 to put one in. I laughed hysterically right in front of the technician because I knew it was a 10 minute project. I'm just not electrical savvy personally but for $50 I'll figure it out. PS Nice avatar Stadt11
stadt11 Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Very easy to install - Pull off panel, unscrew 4 or so screws, pull out radio, plug in module, & put everything back together PS Thanks John
