2001 Gmc Denali C3 Gas Mileage?

I was browsing some ads and came across a nice Denali. Originally I wanted a 5.3L 1500 4x4 as for the better gas mileage though. Does the Denali have the same engine as the 2500 HDs, thus the same (bad) gas mileage?

I'd assume 12-13 in town and 16-17 on the highway would be a pretty safe bet. Any more would be a nice bonus but not likely. I guess it depends on what you want to do with it.

I read you won't get more than 9 mpg out of a 2500, that worries me since it's the same engine..?!

EDIT: Found an article on CanadianDriver.com

Fuel consumption as you might expect, is poor - 21.1 l/100 km (13 mpg) in the city and 15.4 l/100 km (18 mpg) on the highway. The C3's big V8 engine, heavy curb weight and permanently engaged four-wheel-drive system all contribute to its thirsty fuel consumption, although I'm a little surprised at the poor highway consumption because the engine does only 1,700 rpm at a steady 100 km/h.
