Leo, do you ever escort those wind turbine blades, up through North Texas? I think I've seen a truck like the one in your sig pic escorting those loooooong turbine blades up through here.

I know what your talking about Michael those things come out of Santa Teresa NM and go out to Big Spring TX. I have seen a truck like that to when I worked there a few times.

Yeah... Maybe... I think these may be heading somewhere else, though. The ones I keep seeing are exiting at the Saginaw / Main St exit, on the north side of Fort Worth, off of 820. I hadn't really thought about it until now. But, I'm wondering if they may be coming here to get loaded on a train... (There is a BNSF railyard here.)

I just asked my cousin (He is the operations manager there) and he said yeah they are shipping some to Ft. Worth to ship by rail on some new rail cars specifically designed for windmill blades.

EDIT : Speaking of new rail cars.. I've recently started seeing some that are basically just WHEELS that 18-wheel trailers (with their wheels still connected) sit on / hang on. Kind of odd looking to see those going down the track, with the wheels from the tractor trailers hanging down, just a few inches above the tracks.

The blades are made out of Gainsville, TX and a number of them go west on Interstate 40 as well as other locations. I'd like to see one on the back of a RR car..... Wow! N TX rocks so don't tell everyone about the place!!

Nope,I mostly escort stuff for the oil industry which keeps me down south and out of the cold and snow most of the time,However on occasion I do get up to Oklahoma and Arkansas escorting compressor skids for Exterran...

Must be a different company then. Mitsubishi Windmill Blades are made in Juarez MX come across the border to the Santa Teresa NM prepping and storage facility and then get shipped out to different locales.

Man, on saturday I saw 3 of them flying down the road. They sure aren't afraid to go fast with them!
