Choosing And Installing A Rear Locker On 2000 Z71

Im kinda new here. Ive got a z71 single cab short bed pickup. Its 4x4 as any z71 should be imo, but it doesnt have a rear locker. Why, i do not know. Im just wondering how big a job it would be to put one in, or if it can even be done to my existing differential. I dont mean to sound dumb, this is just one thing i have no idea about. Do you think it would even be worth it? I just hate leaving one wheel black marks, and i have a tendancy to get in some deep mud and like to have atleast 3 wheels pulling. Also, what locker should i go with and how do i tell which one i need. thanks.

Mine has a factory locker. same year Z71 but extended cab. I believe the option code is maybe G80? Look at your RPO codes in the glove box. Maybe you have a locker and it isnt working?

I believe your right about the option code. Im gonna go check. I dont think it makes sense for a z71 off road, as accoring to the sticker, to not have a locker. Just my oppinion. When you build a new truck, u can put almost any options you want on it, but when you find a steal on a used one, you cant be so picky on options. Anyone else have this problem?
