Updating Repair Situations...

Is it just me, or do you guys think it's pretty inconsiderate of folks not to post updates on repair questions they've come here and asked... picking the brains of fellow members... and then they go away and never let the board know whether or how the problem was ultimately solved?

It looks like if folks expect the forum members to give them advice and ideas, and share experiences with similar problems they'd at least post back and let us know how their particular problem was resolved.

Rant over.

:sigh: Dan, I may be the offender, or one of them. I still haven't resolved my vibration in the 2500 nor tried to swap out my 1500's front driveshaft into the 2500. Sorry.

Not at all!

I was talking mainly about the archives here, where you can go and research an issue and see how it was resolved (six months ago... a year or two ago...)... and I keep finding threads several months old with no updates from the original poster. With problems like trucks not starting, or serious transmission problems, the threads are sort of left like that without us knowing what happened.

So I definitely wasn't referring to you. I know it can take a while to solve little issues like vibrations, because you can live with that in the mean time.

Sorry about not making that clear in the original post.

I can see your point but a lot of guys just sign up to ask one question about a problem that pops up and never post again. It will always be that way IMO.

The best thing that you can do on here is post a problem and get what advice you can get from this site and then post the solution once you have found one... And once your problem is fixed!!! I have had this happen to me many times...

Agreed... when the updates and repair solutions are posted, it builds the body of knowledge here for folks to peruse when they have a similar problem.

Maybe there could be a specific forum for resolved issues with links to other forums, kind of like an index???

Almost like an index or faq? just an idea.

What's funny about this is, a lot of them probably never get their question answered. I really think they should introduce themselve's before asking for help. I was guilty of that myself. I never did get my question answered, but after I went to the new member introduction's and introduced myself, well, the rest is history. :D

 I'd have to agree 100% on that. How many people didn't start out that way though? I also went straight with my question. I don't think I got any replies to the thread at all. But after a couple months I came back with a new truck, did the intro, and poof. Now I'm on here about 20 times a day at work.
