Cargo Management System - Install?

Recommended Posts

I bought a Cargo Management System off eBay. There's a box of odd fasteners I'm not sure how to use.

The toggle-bolt mechanism seems straightforward enough, but there's this black plastic partial-cylinder-thing with each fastener that has me puzzled.

Anybody taken one of these apart that can help some?

The plastic pieces slide onto the back side of the rails and the spring loaded pieces ride on those. The bolts goes through the rail and into the spring loaded "things". They work like a wall anchor.

Put the rail on the front of the bed before the sides.

Caution, DO NOT OVER TORQUE the bolts. Just snug them up, don't muscle them.

The bolt goes through the rail, through the black plastic, and into the spring loaded anchor.

See pic for proper bolt assembly;

They seems to go for $100-125.

I plan to list the extra set I have (for a 5'8" bed) eventually.

When you get ready to sell it let me know . I was thinking about 1 for the wrecked 1 I bought

Is there a torque spec on the bolts for the cargo management system? I pulled mine out before I had a Speedliner sprayed into the bed. Now it's time to remount the CMS.

I'm sure there is a spec torque but if you just snug them up good and tight it will be fine. As mentioned above "Caution, DO NOT OVER TORQUE the bolts. Just snug them up, don't muscle them". I like Mine!

There are torque specs, but unfortunately it's been a year and a half since I installed mine, and I can't put my hands on the instructions that came with them!

I am in the samed boat as Jeep Therapy, I just picked up the complete set, 3 tool boxes, and the ladder racks, and the rails, I got no instructiotons. After laying everything out before attempting to put the puzzle together. I think I am missing a few things.

I have 3 tool boxes, mounting brackets for large tool box, 3 bed rails, 2 sliding tie downs, the 2 ladder racks, 6 bolt/flat metal/spring things, 9 toggle/plastic/bolts, 7 short bolts and nuts, 2 little black L shaped Plastic pieces, 1 Aluminum small rectangular piece with hole in it and channels on both sides (figure there should be at least 1 more of these). I sure would like to see a parts list if anybody has one. I know I am missing the L shaped black plastic pieces that go where the 2 side rails and the cab rail join in the corners. Got the seller looking for them already. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'll answer my own post. I've installed mine and figured it all out. Here it is for anybody else that may need it.

Just take a small flat screw driver and pry under one side and pop out the little plastic plugs in the bed (be sure to do before getting bed liner sprayed if doing that)they will pop out. If you let them spray over them they will be really hard to get out in not impossible.

The black plastic part, (holds the toggle that the bolt goes thru). You put the toggle in the open end of the black plastic part (it clicks in), then you slide the black plastic part in the slot on the back of the rail. slide the bolt thru the rail into the toggle and tighten enough to get the bolt thru it. Install all three on each rail. (Make sure you look on the back of the 2 side rails to find the "FWD" with arrow pointing to which way is FWD and install the side rail accordingly) 1. Install the across bed/cab back rail first by squeezing the toggle and installing it thru the hole in the bed (do all three before tightening). Then tighten them. (As you tighten it will get tight then it will feel like it is stripped, just keep tightening as the toggle has come out of where it was clipped in the black plastic part and is moving/sliding to allow it to tighten). If you have to remove a rail you loosen the bolt and the toggle will slide back in the black plastic part untill it clips back in to the end of it allowing you to unscrew the bolt out and remove the bolt. Then you slide the rail off the black plastic part and it's holding the toggle to keep it from falling down into the body. You then can collapse/compress one side of the toggle to extract it from the bed side.

Hope this explains it good enough for you. When you install the side rails look at the one closest to the cab that is in the stake pocket on each side and you can see how it works. Install the cab/across bed rail first. Just take your time it's really pretty easy and I didn't have any instructions. I just sat down and started putting parts together until I figured it all out. Mine came to me completely apart along with all the tool boxes and the overhead ladder racks. Lots of loose parts.

Need anymore help PM me.
