Possesed Right Turn Signal In 88 Gmc C1500 ....

Possesed right turn signal in 88 GMC C1500 ....

 

W\ Headlights OFF , right turn signal works, but all dash lights flicker on and off with the blinker

 

W\ Headlights ON , Right turn signal doesn't work , Dash Right turn Indicator stays solid green..

 

Any thoughts?

Bad ground on the signal light bulb. It's probably grounding through the park light side of the bulb, but when you turn your lights on you're putting 12 volts on that element... so it can't run through the park light side to use that ground anymore...

 

Go to the wiring and socket on the bulb, and find which wire is supposed to be the ground. You'll find that it's not making connection inside the socket. Replace the socket and the problem should be solved.

OK , now this is funny..I'd think you were probably correct in a long about sorta way ...

 

I found a trailer wire harnes tucked under the bumper with several uninsulated , untaped sections of wire..go figger..

 

Pulled the harness out and everything is now normal...

 

I shoulda looked before asking I guess..
