Low Oil Pressure At Stop.

Okay so i have a 1997 Chevy Cheyenne and my dad has a 1997 Chevy Silverado.

Recently close to the same time we noticed at stop our oil pressure drops and trucks begin to shake and seem as if it was gonna die.

Any ideas what this could be?

Also

Now our trucks are beginning to not start.

We are thinking starters. When we turn the key we just hear a whine as if the starter is not engaging.

The oil pressure is dropping because your idle speed is dropping. Go by Advance Auto or Auto Zone and see if the scanner (it's free) shows any fault codes.

May be a throttle position sensor issue, or idle air or something like that.

The starter issues are not related I wouldn't think.

Sounds strange that both trucks are giving the same symptoms simultaneously. Maybe the gremlins under the hood know each other?

The starter issues sound like starters going bad. (solenoids anyway) Easy fix.

Since you both are experiencing then same oil pressure issues at low idle, did you both change oil recently and go with something different? Maybe a lighter oil is causing the pressure drop. Seems odd that two trucks would do that at the same time otherwise.

Just guessing based on what you posted.

Like already mentioned, this could be tps, iac, egr or pcv valve's. You might even be having vacuum issues. It's a cat and mouse game. I wish you luck.
