Speaker Help

I have a 95 GMC C-1500 Extended Cab Total Stock OEM. My wife bought me a new Kenwood stereo system for Christmas. I guess she is getting tired of tring to find buttons in the dark. I've bought all new Sony Xploid speakers and new 16 Gauge wires. I need help in figuring out how to replace the stock 4X6 rear Piliar speakers without Busting the plastic. I've bought new 4X6 speakers but I'm thinking about seeing if 6X9 speakers will fit.

Any And All Help will be Appreciated

Stick with 4x6 in there. Not enough room for anything bigger. You can add a small powered sub under the rear seat and it will sond good.

If I recall correctly, on that body style, if you don't have the 4th door, the plastic is a complete and total pain the balls to get out of there.

I know that I've had to pull seats and seat belts to get at a couple of trucks I've gotten into back there.

Yes, it is a royal pain in the ass and damn near impossible to remove the panels without breaking them in the process.

It's just not worth the trouble. NOTHING you can fit back there will sound any good. You would be MUCH better off using the money for a small amplifier for your front speakers instead. Just disconnect the rear speakers when you install your headunit, if your front stage is done well enough, you'll forget you ever had crappy 4x6" speakers back there.

Also, you might not like this, but return that Xplod junk and get something else.

I second that. My girlfriend had bought me a sony xplode head unit for christmas to replace my cd-less pos. Long story short, we broke up and that unit was the best thing to come out of it, and it's shitty. Anything past 3/4 volume is distorted. I put some pioneer 6.5 to replace the factory fronts, disconnected the rears, and put a 10" wofer and small 500W kenwood amp under the back seat. It sounds great from inside the truck! And it doesn't rattle your license plate, lol. That's about as good as it's going to get on a moderate budget.

Oh well I'm stuck with the Speakers. I guess I'll make do with what I can do.

The Sub-woofer is a good Idea if I can find a place to put it. I have a 10 disc CD changer inder the back seat now amd it takes up most of the area I'd need for the Sub
