Heater Door Actuaters

On my '04 2500HD where are they located? My heater will not switch over to defrost the windshield but it does come out the sides of the dash blowing on the doors and also blows out at the floor when in defrost. I know it used to make clicking noises down under the dash but not now.

the heater door actuators are located under the center section by the passengers left foot area. the drivers side is to the right of the gas pedal. I doubt these are what your looking for, they control the air temperature. If your controls are not working right, either the head unit is bad or there is another actuator deep in the bowls of the dash.

Well you are not going to beleive this one...

Pulled HVAC fuse and then re-installed it and WALLA heater works like it suppose too.

I guess it has something to do with the actuator going past its end point and quits working, so removing the fuse and then re-installing it resets the actuator.

Good, I've always heard that was supposed to work but when I tried I never had any luck. At least it worked out for you.

Boy am I glad I saw this thread! I have the same grief with my 01 but it has defaulted to defrost only. When set to floor and defrost it only surges. The shop quoted some scary numbers for tearing my dash apart so here's hoping the fuse remidies this. Just when I wanted to sell it too. Better than right after I sell it.......

Hate to burst you bubble but it will do it again, I had an 04 that did it but would blow cold air out on passengerside and heat on driverside. I was down in Tennesse when mine did it and I call a service dept friend of mine and he told me to do that and it did work for awhile but screwed up again later. Had to take in to have the actuater replaced.

Any one have some pointers on how to get to it? Of course it has to be the one that is the hardest to get too. I had my dash tore clear apart trying to get to it but couldn't figure out how to get the dash loose were the passenger airbag is located to remove the top of the dash.
