Rev Light Wire Under Dash?

Ok so I am looking for a wire I can tap into to get my reverse camera to come on when I put the truck into reverse. I have tried the brake controller wiring harness but haven't been able to get a 12v power on when the truck is in reverse.

 

Any ideas?

Usually you can find it in the harness running down the drivers side under the door sill trim plate. Easiest way to find the wire color is take out the tail light and see what wire goes to the back up light. This is just general knowledge; all the back up cameras I install are usually with a new radio that uses an interface module that provides a reverse output.

There is one in the relay box inside the cab at the firewall on the drivers side...I don't recall which pin it is in the box but I used it on my 99 to control the relay for aftermarket reverse lights I added.

I don't recall. I wired the lights almost 10 years ago and they were removed from the truck more then 5 years ago. I'm pretty sure I found the info somewhere online somewhere...I'm pretty sure I had both power and reverse wired to the relay box but I could be wrong. It wouldn't be that hard to figure out by checking the "pins" on the relay box...there are not that many. I always check the function of any wire in a vehicle before wiring something to it, just to be sure. In the case of where to wire something to a fuse box it might not be so necessary but when working with BCM wiring I always check b/c some wire colors seem to repeat in those harnesses...this kinda bit us when installing the alarm on the 99 with a "green" wire, we finally figured out it was the wrong "green" wire
