Tail Light Tint

You should probably check provincial law to see if tinting or reducing the light output is legal. In most US states, if you darken the light output from either the tail lights or brake lights or cover up the red reflector portion of the lamps, you could get a visit from the po-lice.

I would think that the Mounties or local police will want to have a chat with you too.

cant you tint the tail lights if you put one of those led bars below the tailgate?

i think another member here did that... he tinted his tail lights really dark but he also had a LED bar..

I don't know if it's legal or not, but I'm going to do it anyways. I might not tint my third brake light and 35% shouldn't do much, that's how much Harley F-150's tails are.

It's not really the tinting of the lights themselves, it's the loss of the red reflectors within the lens. Adding some small red reflectors under the bumper might be a workaround. If you look at some vehicles that have the ricer-look chrome/white rear lamp assemblies, that can be considered illegal if the red reflectors are removed as part of the OEM assembly.

But any LEO that just doesn't like the "look" would probably have good reason to stop a vehicle and if nothing else ask a bunch of questions and delay you. You could get a fix-it ticket if he's  or you could get a citation based on whatever law that stipulates light output/visible light distance/reflectors or whatever.

From a safety standpoint it's not a good idea and making that thing more attractive to local authorities isn't that good of an idea either if its illegal

It's ok to make your truck stand out of the crowd, but you don't want it standing out to the wrong people either

You don't need to convince us Jas, but you may need to convince a judge and/or your insurance adjuster when someone hits you (regardless if they caused the accident).

you know folks, there are stock tailights that are darker then those. I doubt you'll get into trouble tinting them down a bit. I'm going to town the red lights on my Sierra down a bit as well. Just like in that F-150, looks pretty dang sweet and it wont make a damn bit of difference reflective wise.

You cant tell which one is tinted so why even do it. VMax is right no matter who fault it is if someone hits you in the rear it will be your fault due to the tinted tails, it your call.

I understand what you're saying Jeff..I think I will leave the third brake light stock and just tint he back two tail lights.
