Hooking An Ipod Up To A Factory Radio

Recommended Posts

I finally moved out of the Stone Age, and purchased an iPod. It's the Classic 120gb. I want to hard wire it to my factory radio, and be able to control the iPod through the radio buttons.

I have looked online, and there are tons of interfaces to choose from. Some of them say that the radio has to be XM ready. Others say that the radio has to be able to support a factory disc changer. How can I tell if my radio will support either?

The radio has a single cd player, and a tape deck. It has a "Band" button, a "CD/Tape" button. It does not have an "Aux" button.

Any suggetions on the best way to tackle this would be helpful. I would prefer to do this my self, and not have to pay the local car stereo place $200+ to install it.

Edited to add: I also want to make sure that the interface will charge the iPod Classic 120gb. I had read somewhere that not all interfaces will do that.
