Same Old Abs Problem Activating At Low Speeds

Recommended Posts

I have a 2003 silverado extended cab 2wd. The abs activates at low speeds I replaced the wheel speed sensors on the front hubs it still does it and seems to be a little worse. what else would cause this to happen. I've read alot of post that say there is a recall but don't see anything for 2003. How do i check to see if these sensors that i bought are any good. any help you can give me would be great

thanks don

The problem is that you have an "air-gap" between the sensor mounting pad and the wheel hub itself. In other words:rust and corrosion

Take the sensors off the hubs again. This time, take a small file, and clean the mounting pads. Make it shiny and spotless. Install your sensors, and you'll be good to go.

The rust/corrosin on the hubs tricks the sensors into thinking that the wheels are actually locked up, which causes a low speed ABS cycle to happen.

well i took off the speed sensors again and filed them down to bare metal it still activates sometimes not nearly as much as it did. i greased everything. one thing i'm noticing is when i install them they don't seem to seal tightly when you put the allan bolt on it lifts the sensor side a little bit is there anything i can use to seal this small gap
