Service Rankings

Is there a list that ranks Service Departments? I’m done with the Service Department at the Dealership that I bought my truck from and I want to find out if there is one close by that is better than another. If all else fails I will take it to one that is about 30 miles away, but that is a long way to go when there is a problem.

Good idea. Sometimes I feel I'm better off working on the truck myself, or finding someone you trust to work on it. I went back to the selling dealer for my first oil change, and they just did a drain & fill. When I got home, I found original filter was still in place, they never bothered to change it. Upon talking to the service manager they had me bring the truck back in and changed the oil and filter. I just had the second service done by a buddy of mine who works at a Ford dealership  ! Guess what? The Chevrolet dealer who sold me the truck installed a "Parts Plus" oil filter after not changing it the first time. They are probably made the same as the AC Delco filters, but wouldn't you think they would use a GM part? Mind-numbing.

Unfortunately, a service department is only as good as the mechanic that draws your job. One trip might be great and the next a disaster. It sucks sometimes.

yup... everytime a free oil change is brought to my bay... they make us put some crappy filter on the cars... i hate it. If its a paying job then we put an ac delco on. The only time they should have left the filter on was if they were doing a pan gasket... then you just fill it back up with oil after... service departments are very cheap.... they bitch at me for using too many gloves etc and brake clean. I just buy my own now... its rediculous... all the money you make the department and they are up ur butt about everything.. drives me nuts!!!!

And some dealers wonder why people dont come back.. 100 bucks an hour labor and some get treated like garbage.

I would like to think that I know that the mechanics, if they ever got the chance to actually work on it, would do a knock down job. I just wish it could get to that point.

I feel very fortunate to have a great service dept at my dealer. Great customer service and so far, great mechanics (even though they needed 3 atempts to fix my oil leak  ).
