Comfort is generally a function of sidewalk stiffness, being a heavy duty you probably have 6 or 8-ply sidewalls, which are very stiff. You should notice the most difference with a passenger tire P245/17 or P265/17, or compromise with a 4-ply LT tire (I have LT245 c-class, 4-ply tires on my truck and they ride well)

Of course, the trade of is in capacity. A P tire can't hold as much weight, which kind of turns your HD into a light-duty. Assuming you need that HD, you'll either want to keep your oem wheels for loads or make sure to put on a tire that has sufficent load rating.

I personally would go with a BFG A/T T/A, Great tires, we have them on my truck wich is only a half ton, but we also have them on our HD with an 8ply. And it is one of the best ride tires we have tried. Hope this helps.

thanks for your advice but what about tire noise for these tires? ...what do you think about michelan comparing to these tires ...

A big help is to lower rear tire pressure to 65lbs. when not carrying a load. On my 2007 extended cab, it won't set off the tpms system and softens the ride.

I carry a 2500 lb. camper occasionally so I added Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks. When I turn them down to #3 from 9 positions, it also softens up the ride.

I had a 1500HD crew cab and the day I drove it off the lot I traded the oem tires for LT265/70/16 Michelins M/S and I think the ride improved about 50%(not as harsh). Those tires lasted 60,000 miles and still had about 5 to 6,000 more left but I replaced them because of the worn look. Those tires lasted and wore better than any tire I have ever owned. When I replaced them I told them I wanted the same thing but when I got it home I checked and they had put P265/70/16 instead of the LT265/70/16 and I could tell the difference. That tire was not stiff enough for that heavy of a truck.I now own a 2008 1500 reg crew cab and had the P265/70/17 michelins put on but wish I had put the LT tires on it.I like a little stiffer tire when going around curves.Just my opinion.
