2004 Yukon Tachometer Stuck

I have a 2004 GMC Yukon XL and the tachometer is stuck at about 2K RPMs. It doesn't move...just broke. Any ideas how I can fix the problem?

The '04 model year (and others) have an instrument panel that acts up and can be replaced under an extended warranty up to 70k. If yours never has been replaced this could be one answer.

And if your warranty is up because of too many miles I have read that the stepper motor is what goes bad. You can mail out the cluster for repair with new updated stepper motors. Not super cheap, but way less than what a dealer wants. IIRC for all stepper motors to be replaced it's somewhere around $180. Or you may be able to do it yourself for about $35 in parts if you are handy with a soldering iron.

Thanks...Unfortunately it has 80K miles so it's over the 70K you were talking about. I guess I'll work on pulling it out first and see if I can find any loose connections. Do you know of a good place where I may be able to get the replacement parts?
