Stricklin out, Mast in No. 90 Ford

Glad to see Rick Mast get another shot.  I just wish he could get a shot with a better team sometime.  In my opinion RCR should hire him instead of Gordon or Green.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Hut Stricklin was let go from his ride in the No. 90 Ford on Tuesday, with Rick Mast getting the nod to drive this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway.

 

Car owner Junie Donlavey said it was the only way he could save his team past the end of the season. The car's sponsor is leaving at the end of the season and presumably going with Stricklin to whatever new ride he takes.

 

``With the future of this team going down the drain, I decided I needed to make this move,'' Donlavey said. ``If we stayed together until the end of the season and they left, how could I get anyone to come and sponsor this team when the first thing they would ask is, Who's going to drive?'''

 

Hills Bros Coffee wants to relocate its sponsorship package to a Charlotte, N.C.-based team and has said it wants Stricklin as its driver and director of racing and Philippe Lopez as crew chief.

 

``I think you see the position I'm in,'' Donlavey said. ``I know that if I went until the season is over like we were I got no shot. If Rick and I can work good together at least I can say we got something to potential sponsors.''

I second that, there was a post here earlier and I said I would love for Rick Mast to drive for RCR - he's better than those other yahoo's
